Hog Snapper Facts
Hog Snapper has a body similar to a Mutton Snapper with the face of a Hog. The fins have an extended flair and a dark burgandy color on the edges.
Habitat ~~ They can be found around Coral Reefs and ship wrecks.
Flavor Value ~~ Outstanding! One of the best tasting reef fish of all. The meat is very white and delicate when cooked.
Tackle ~~ Best when caught on light tackle. Use enough weight to get the bait to the bottom.
Baits ~~ Whole Sardines, cut Ballyhoo or Shrimp.
Size ~~ Minimum size is 12 inches to the fork of the tail and five per person per day. The Florida record size is 19 lbs 8 oz. caught 04/28/62.
